The dataset includes 40 small islands located in the Raja Ampat archipelago in West Papua, Indonesia. Botanical field surveys were conducted during six months between June 2016 to February 2018.
To sample species occurrences, we used a transect design subdivided into plots. All transects had a dimension of 2 x 10 m and comprised of five 2 x 2 m plots. The number of transects on an island was roughly proportional to the island area. We recorded all species with a diameter at breast height ≥2 cm rooted within the plots. For further information, see: Schrader, J., Moeljono, S., Keppel, G. & Kreft, H. Plants on small islands revisited: the effects of spatial scale and habitat quality on the species-area relationship.
