This occurrence dataset contains the underlying data for: "A revision of the Neotropical species of Bolitogyrus Chevrolat, a geographically disjunct lineage of Staphylinini (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae)". It contains 697 specimen records for the rarely collected rove beetle genus Bolitogyrus and encompasses all available, identifiable records from insect collections worldwide.

All specimens were identified by the first author (AJB) in the context of a modern taxonomic revision.
Specimen data includes records from southern Mexico to Ecuador.
Specimens were requested from all major Insect Collections with significant neotropical beetle collections. Several other collections were visited in person by the first author (AJB).
