Data Records

The data in this checklist resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 570 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

The names were obtained from the world catalog of Hydrophiloidea (Hansen 1999, until December 1999), and catalog updates by Short and Hebauer (2006) and Short and Fikáček (2011). More recent publications were surveyed to update the list to June 2021.

Study Extent This checklist includes all the valid names for genera and species of the water scavenger beetle subfamily Acidocerinae (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae) that have been described until June 2021.
Quality Control Every name was checked on their original description and their validity was determined on more recent publications.

Method step description:

  1. All the genera and species are listed as in Girón JC, Short AEZ (2021) The Acidocerinae (Coleoptera, Hydrophilidae): taxonomy, classification, and catalog of species. ZooKeys 1045: 1–236. https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.1045.63810.
  2. Three more species of Agraphydrus were added to the current version, as published in Yang et al. (2021).
