Descripción
Registros

This project investigated the occurrence, distribution, and taxonomic identification of the early life stages of five codlet species (Bregmacerotidae) from the northwestern Pacific. Species identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA barcoding, including the recognition of a putative undescribed Bregmaceros lineage. The project provides occurrence data supporting the associated publication.

Métodos de muestreo
Fish larvae and juveniles were collected during marine surveys using standard ichthyoplankton sampling methods. Specimens were identified based on morphological characteristics and DNA barcoding, and occurrence records were compiled following the Darwin Core standard.
| Área de Estudio | The dataset comprises occurrence records of early life stages of five codlet species (Bregmacerotidae) collected from the northwestern Pacific, including the East Sea, Korea Strait, and adjacent waters around the Korean Peninsula, between 2017 and 2024. |

Descripción de la metodología paso a paso:
- Early life stage specimens were collected during marine surveys conducted between 2017 and 2024 in the northwestern Pacific. Larvae and juveniles were sorted and identified using morphological characters, and species identifications were confirmed by DNA barcoding when necessary. Occurrence records were standardized following the Darwin Core standard and validated before publication.

| Introducción | This dataset contains occurrence records of larval and juvenile codlets collected during fisheries surveys in the northwestern Pacific. Species identifications were based on morphological characteristics and DNA barcoding. The dataset accompanies the associated publication describing the early life stages of five codlet species, including a putative undescribed Bregmaceros lineage. |
| Propósito | This dataset was compiled to document the occurrence of the early life stages of five codlet species (Bregmacerotidae) collected from the northwestern Pacific. The dataset supports species identification, distribution analyses, and future studies on the taxonomy and early life history of codlets. |
