Description

During the "Advanced course in identification of species: Spider taxonomy and ecology" of the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Master´s program at the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki, the authors were teaching and learning spider identification, taxonomy, behaviour and sampling. The authors of this paper sampled four plots in mountain birch forest in Kilpisjärvi (Fig. 1). The plots sampled in this area are so far the northernmost and only plots sampled from the hemiarctic zone in a global spider diversity project (see http://biodiversityresearch.org/research/biogeography/). To produce high-quality data comparable to other sampling conducted under the global project, sampling was performed following the standardized COBRA – Conservation Oriented Biodiversity Rapid Assesment – protocol (Cardoso 2009). By following the protocol, it is ensured that this data can be re-used in multiple ways.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 350 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Downloads

Download the latest version of this resource data as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A) or the resource metadata as EML or RTF:

Data as a DwC-A file download 350 records in English (9 kB) - Update frequency: not planned
Metadata as an EML file download in English (8 kB)
Metadata as an RTF file download in English (8 kB)
