This project was conducted in southeastern Bahia, Brazil. This region is considered important for the occurrence of bird species in the Atlantic Forest presenting many threatened species. Our study encompasses the Medio Rio de Contas region which presents a transition of the Atlantic Forest and the Caatinga biome. We searched for new records of bird species in these regions by doing non-systematic surveys in forest fragments in the municipalities of Jequié and Apuarema.

| Study Area Description | Our study was conducted in two forest fragment in the municipality of Apuarema and Jequié, Bahia. The first area in the municipality has approximately 2500 hectares while the other in the municipality of Jequié has approximately 300 hectares. Both studied areas are not protected and are surrounded by several small farms where wood extraction, agriculture, and hunting activities frequently occur. |
| 研究の意図、目的、背景など（デザイン） | From September 2016 to March 2018, we performed monthly non-systematic surveys in trails inside the forest fragments (trail size ranged from 1–2 km) from 06:00 to 10:00 AM. In the first fragment, we have covered four trials and in the second, only one. All bird species found were identified through vocalization and/or were recorded by photos. |

収集方法
We performed non-systematic surveys from 2016 to 2018 in two forest fragments searching for birds. In one fragment (municipality of Apuarema) we covered four trials and in the other (municipality of Jequié) one trial. Searches were conducted from 06:00 to 10:00 AM.

Method step description:
- We walked inside each trial in the forest fragment and each time we saw a bird species we recorded it or took a photo.
