Description
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 7 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods
Occurrence records were collected during fauna rescue operations carried out simultaneously with vegetation clearance activities. Trained biologists actively searched for amphibians and reptiles in different microhabitats, including vegetation, leaf litter, and near water bodies. Individuals encountered were manually captured to prevent injury, identified in the field, and released immediately whenever possible. One specimen of Oxybelis fulgidus that was injured during vegetation suppression was collected, preserved, and deposited in a scientific collection. All occurrence records were georeferenced using handheld GPS units, and coordinates were recorded in decimal degrees.
| Study Extent | The study was conducted in a mining area located in the municipality of Minaçu, northern Goiás, Brazil, within the Cerrado biome. Fieldwork took place between June 2021 and May 2022 during fauna rescue and environmental monitoring activities associated with vegetation clearance for the implementation of a mining project. The dataset focuses on the arboreal colubrid Oxybelis fulgidus (Daudin, 1803), with seven occurrence records obtained throughout the sampling period. |

Method step description:
- Field activities were conducted following a standardized protocol during vegetation clearance for a mining project in Minaçu, Goiás, Brazil. First, trained biologists inspected the area prior to machinery operation to identify and rescue any vertebrate fauna present. During vegetation removal, continuous monitoring was performed, with active searches for amphibians and reptiles in vegetation, leaf litter, and other potential microhabitats. Captured individuals were manually collected to avoid injury, identified in the field, and released nearby when possible. Injured individuals were collected for scientific purposes and preserved according to herpetological protocols. All occurrences were georeferenced using GPS devices, and the data were subsequently validated, formatted according to Darwin Core standards, and prepared for publication.

Additional Metadata
| Introduction | The green vine snake Oxybelis fulgidus (Daudin, 1803) is a diurnal, arboreal colubrid widely distributed from southern Mexico to northern South America, including the Amazon and Cerrado biomes in Brazil. Despite its broad range, knowledge about its occurrence in open formations such as the Cerrado remains scarce. This dataset compiles seven occurrence records of O. fulgidus obtained between June 2021 and May 2022 during fauna rescue and environmental monitoring activities associated with vegetation suppression in a mining project located in Minaçu, northern Goiás, Brazil. By providing spatial, temporal, and taxonomic data, the dataset fills a significant gap in the distributional knowledge of the species in central Brazil and contributes to future biodiversity assessments, ecological research, and conservation planning in one of the most threatened and biodiverse savanna ecosystems in the world |
|---|---|
| Getting Started | This dataset presents occurrence records of the green vine snake Oxybelis fulgidus (Daudin, 1803) collected during fauna rescue activities associated with vegetation clearance in a mining area located in Minaçu, Goiás, Brazil. Fieldwork was conducted between 2021 and 2022, resulting in seven georeferenced records. These data contribute to improving knowledge of the distribution, ecology, and conservation of this arboreal colubrid species in the Cerrado biome. The dataset is intended to support future ecological research, biodiversity assessments, and conservation planning. |
| Purpose | The purpose of this dataset is to document and share occurrence records of the green vine snake Oxybelis fulgidus (Daudin, 1803) obtained during fauna rescue and environmental monitoring activities in a mining area located in Minaçu, Goiás, Brazil. By providing accurate spatial and temporal data, this dataset aims to contribute to the understanding of the species’ distribution in the Cerrado biome, support biodiversity assessments, and inform future conservation and management strategies. |
