Paspalum procurrens Quarin and P. volcanense Zuloaga, Morrone & A.Denham are two rare species inhabiting geographically restricted areas from South America exposed to ecological degradation due to landscape transformation and diversity losses. In this work, new records and ploidy levels for these species are presented, from the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán and Catamarca (Argentina) and departments of Tarija, Chuquisaca and Santa Cruz (Bolivia).

Métodos de Amostragem

The individuals of P. procurrens Quarin and P. volcanense Zuloaga, Morrone & Denham were first identified in situ during the collection trip and at least three plant specimens were collected and processed in situ. Both species were brought for cultivation in experimental gardens at the Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias of the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, Argentina. Vouchers were prepared and deposited in CTES, LPB and MNES. Ploidy level of each individual was determined by Flow Cytometry (FC).
