Description

Version 1 of the dataset contains 10080 occurrence records for native Australian millipedes in Tasmania, Australia. The records in the dataset are "curated" in the sense that I have confidence in the identity and collection details of the 10080 specimen lots. I identified 97% of the lots myself, and almost all the remainder were identified by original describers, specialists or experienced Tasmanian collectors. About 64% of the lots are my own or joint collections, with curated collection details as described in Mesibov (2021; https://doi.org/10.3897/BDJ.9.e70463) or added subsequently (I resumed field work in 2022). Collection details for the other 36% of the lots were checked as described in Mesibov (2013; https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.293.5111) or through correspondence with individual collectors.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 10,080 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
