Funding This study had the support of national funds through Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), granted to MARE (Marine and Environmental Sciences Center) under the references UIDB/04292 and UIDP/04292. Monitorization of cCoastal biodiversity surveys haves also been funded by Activo Bank through an ongoing protocol with the non-profit association MARDIVE (www.mardive.org). F.A. (Frederico Almada) had the support through researcher contract DL57/2016/CP1339/CT0003.

Sampling Methods

50 square meter transects (25 m long and 2 m wide) over rocky intertidal platforms.

Study Extent Intertidal biodiversity surveys along the coasts of Cascais, Sintra and Mafra (aprox.50km) performed every month.

  1. The methodologies referred above were repeated every month on specific pres-selected sampling points.

Additional Metadata

Purpose In January 2022, the presence of 2 Liparis montagui was documented at its southernmost point along the west coast of Portugal. The specimens were identified through morphological observations and confirmed with genetic barcoding.
