Description

The dataset provides plant species occurrence records based on field surveys (human observations) for mapping the distribution of plants of Wadi Shuwaib, a typical desert wadi in the eastern region of United Arab Emirates (UAE). All records have been taxonomically evaluated by the authors. The current dataset is complete and has 123 species records which is included in the Biodiversity Data Journal

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 0 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods

The dataset is compiled from occurrences during field surveys. In each case the taxonomic identity has been verified or established by the authors. Georeferencing is original when available, or provided by the authors with the utmost accuracy possible using customised Collector App. All coordinates were converted into WGS84 datum. The nomenclature is not based on any single source but compiled by the first author from a variety of phylogenetic, taxonomic and nomenclatural sources.

Study Extent The dataset contains information on the distribution of vascular flora in Wadi Shuwaib a desert wadi in UAE

Method step description:

  1. 1. The floristic checklist was screened, and taxonomic details were added 2. Each record was evaluated taxonomically. 3. The locality data was processed for each record and structured according to the Darwin Core format
